This is October 2016 income report, My third-month blogging. And I’m so happy with the achievements so far this month. I got to know different amazing things about blogging and making money online. I feel the progress myself and I can’t wait to see how it will look like in a year or so.
I love this time when my traffic and income report is due. I damn love the idea of reviewing how things went so far over the last month and what goals I’m seeking up next. You can’t imagine how I seriously love to write such reports and share the progress with you.
Welcome! This is my October 2016 income report for our blog Growcheap. Before heading any further, I wanted to let you know that we’re on a challenge for this blog. We’re flipping this little blog into a $10k per month business by December 2017.
The 10k Challenge:
Yes, I mean it. What I love about blogging is that it helps me to maintain and grow self-discipline. I figured out how vital it is to set up goals and work for. Accordingly, I thought that such a challenge will help me to setup better goals for a bigger image.
The bigger image here is to turn this little website (Growcheap) from just a little blog about bloggers and making money online into a well-structured blogging business that turns in $10k+ per month by December 2017. I know it’s kind of a big deal in a short period of time, but I’m so positive about it.
I started to draw roadmaps and setup milestones on the road. And this is the real power of making it a challenge instead of just a dream. The challenge makes you to appreciating the time and working on certain goals to achieve on time, however; the dream is nothing at all but a blurred image setting there in your comfort zone.
Before heading off with October income report, let me go over a few questions you probably want to ask and know further about. If you’re new here make sure to read the following answers to get an insight on why we’re disclosing a private income report like this.
What is Income Report?
In simple words, the income report is a detailed report covering all the streams of income and expenses for a certain period of time. The idea behind income reporting is to review a past month’s progress and set up goals for the next one.
We’re delivering a monthly income report for all the profits and expenses generated for this blog. We’re having multiple income streams from different online business models, but here we will be only covering income and outcome of GrowCheap blog.
Why we’re writing Income Reports?
Some of you may see it weird enough. Why are those people sharing such private reports on their income generated from this blog? I agree with you that it’s a little bit weird, but yet very informational and may help you as well as tons of others.
The idea behind publishing our income reports is to share detailed insights about how to make money blogging. We’ll be going over every single cent generated from this blog and show you how we managed to earn it.
Because we do seriously care, we not only want to deliver insights about blogging via our regularly published blog posts. But also to show you where the money is. We’re simply going over how possible it is for you to do the same or even better to make a passive income stream right from your online blog.
Is it completely Passive Income?
Although we call it passive income, it still requires hard work and patience to generate a sustainable income out of your online blog. I would like to go over the difference between Freelance Income and Passive Income.
Let’s see what the difference is:
Freelance Income: If you’re working as a freelancer, then you’re trading hours for money. For example, if you’re doing a website design for a client, you’re here exerting efforts and giving time to this website project and in return the client will pay the agreed amount of money.
Passive Income: You still need to exert efforts, but here you’re putting in efforts prior to making real money out of it initially. For example, in blogging you’re starting a blog, writing blog posts, and do marketing. Later on, you will reap the benefits and start making real money out of it.
Don’t worry if you didn’t get it clear yet. Keep reading and I’m sure you will catch the idea in a way or another. If you’re serious about blogging, I would strongly recommend subscribing to our mailing list to keep track on how we’re making money online via this little blog.

October 2016 Traffic Breakdown:
October was another successful month for me on Growcheap blog. It’s considered to be my third month into blogging. What’s sweet is that although the blogging niche is tough and requires a lot of work ahead to generate income from, we managed to turn a nice income into our pockets in a short period of time after we started up.
Last month (September 2016) income was generated purely from a freelancing work. This may not be considered as a real passive income from blogging. In addition, freelancing is not actually what we’re looking to generate our income here from.
This month, I see it started rolling up. Besides the freelancing income we earned ($168.53), we got to write two sponsored posts that drove in additional $62. And here I can proudly say that blogging started working for us the right way.
On my previous income report, I set up goals to work on. Here’s a recap to see what has been fulfilled and what has not and needs to be rescheduled for November:

Third Month Blogging:
See? This month was a great success on my blogging journey. Out of +20 scheduled tasks to do, only 4 of them failed and will be rescheduled for the next month. I’m so happy that I managed to grow the mailing list as well as social media followers this big.
I spent this month figuring out much more about the blogging world. I read a lot and implemented what I’ve read on my blog here. I call this month “Building the framework stage”. I spent much of the time improving the blog design, tweaking posts, and optimizing my mailing list for the maximum conversion.
As you can see over there in the slider, I picked up the guides and featured them with banners in the sidebar for better exposure. I also wrote and published a new ebook “My comprehensive list: 49+ Smart Legit Ways to Make Money Online“. I delivered it as a freebie upon subscribing to my newsletter as a lead magnet.
I will go over each improvement in details below. But before that, I wanted to stress on how powerful and interesting blogging looks to be. As a part-time blogger for my third month now being fully committed on this blog, I can say that blogging is having a huge upside potential for anything you may think about.
If you didn’t yet start up your own blog, Let me clearly tell you that you’re missing out a lot every single day. Do you want more encouragement to help you getting started? I improved my “Ultimate Guide to Start a Blog” with new details, pictures, and screen snapshots. Head over here to find out why you need a blog and how to get started.
Building The Framework:
October for me was more of building the real functioning framework for this blog. Upon reading up several posts from the blogging masters out there, I figured out that our blog is lacking many of the must-have fundamentals.
Since this post is informational. And its goal is to give you more insights about how to grow your blog, I’m here compiling the list of these fundamentals I worked on this month. There are all necessaries and I would suggest you make sure not missing any of them.
- About page (our complete detailed story).
- Start a Blog Guide (more detailed steps along with screen snapshots).
- Resources Page (my blogging tools I’m using every day & recommend).
- Contact Page (with a functional contact form & email address).
- Disclaimer (about my affiliation promos to build trust).
- Guest Blogging Page (to tell the world I’m accepting guest posts).
- Work with us Page (to promote our freelancing business).
- Published an interesting eBook freebie (to work as a mailing list lead magnet).
I made sure to weapon the above-mentioned pages with detailed information. Those pages are considered to be the hidden power of your blog. A strong “About” page means a strong personality behind this blog. A killer freebie means more trust and more subscribers into your mailing list.
The surprise here is that the brand didn’t reach out to me asking for a sponsored post as usual. It was me pitching my blog over to them and they proudly accepted my offer and paid me for the sponsored post.
I got a message from a brand asking me as a freelance developer to promote their brand name to my web design clients for a %20 referral commission. I replied back with a request to get to know more about their product and how it works.
I jumped in with the brand CEO on a Skype call. I heard from him about their product and how it may suit my clients. I suggested the idea of publishing a product review blog post. They liked the idea very much and paid me for the sponsored content deal.
Money and success won’t knock your door; however, you’re the one who needs to knock doors and mine for money. Make sure you’re ready to pitch your idea whenever possible and invest such opportunities into your favor. Read here how I made $122 writing two sponsored posts in 15 days.
Once more thing to remember: who talks first loses.
Social Media Engagement:
On my previous month income and traffic report, I went over how it’s important to give a keen eye on social media channels. They eventually may turn to be your number one traffic sources.
I was planning to purchase Buffer as a social media scheduler platform and start building engagement with scheduling posts ahead. I somehow got introduced to ViralTag, I used their 14 days trial. I liked the platform very much and I decided to invest in it.
Why I chose ViralTag over Buffer?
- ViralTag packages come with no limit: This means you don’t need to upgrade your package upon hitting the limits. From their basic package up to the top tier one, they all come with unlimited scheduled posts, and unlimited social media profiles to add.
- ViralTag has an unbeatable offer for bloggers: They offer their basic package completely free for 6 months if you have a blog and willing to write a review about their product. Smart marketing strategy, I’ve to say.
- ViralTag has an affiliate program: Another bonus. Who don’t like to get the product for free and earn affiliate commissions upon referring clients their way? Buffer doesn’t have an affiliate program!
Who don’t like freebies? I spent a week or so writing and publishing an eBook freebie that comes your way once you subscribe to our mailing list. The eBook contains my comprehensive list of 49+ smart legit ways to make money online.
To be honest with you, I spent hours and hours of researching to compile this list for you. It’s not just another eBook. It’s all about giving you clear and to the point details on how to make money online and how others can do so.
Whether you’re a beginner or an expert, you’ll find something new for you in this eBook. Although many of the bloggers out there provide freebies to collect emails and grow their mailing list. My eBook here is all about helping you out with proven details the right way.
I would say subscribe to our mailing list, download the eBook for free, and I’m positive you will like it in a way or another. If you didn’t like it, then unsubscribe right away and I will understand.
He asked me: What else?
A few hours ago while I was preparing for writing up this blog post, I received a very important email from a client. He is a client for WebdevFish.com (one of our other online business models we’re into). He was very worried and concerned about this blog and me.
His main concern was that how we’re into several online business models (WebdevFish.com, HostRainbow.com) as well as Growcheap blog. He asked whether I’m still behind WebdevFish.com or it will vanish soon. He also was concerned that I’m a physician and keen to look after blogging and web hosting income.
I reassured him that we’re scaling up our online businesses widely. I told him how much I’m passionate about all of what I’m doing. I tried to clear his concerns with more facts about our strong brand WebdevFish.com and how we’re improving the service.
I’m so happy that he reached out and was that much concerned because he won’t do unless he cares about what we do. And care is what we need from our clients and blog readers. Thanks man, and please do let me know shall you need help anytime.
Goals for November 2016:
I’m still not happy with the traffic stats, and I believe more work needs to be done. So my goals for November will be more of promoting the blog and reaching out to influencers. I expect less income and higher traffic for this month since I’ll focus on marketing.
Although we’re up on a $10k challenge as mentioned above, I still don’t care about the income as much as I care about marketing at the mean time. Since all the necessary pages and fundamental elements have been implemented, it’s time now to promote the blog extensively.
Let’s go for a list of goals to achieve on November 2016:
- Write 4 Blog Posts.
- Write 2 Guest Posts on other top blogs.
- Publish 4 Youtube videos.
- Write 5 valuable comments every day on other blogs.
- Launch the Growcheap blogging roundup
- Get my First Affiliate Sale.
- Increase Email Subscribers from 151 to 300.
- Increase Facebook Followers from 1,762 to 3,000.
- Increase Twitter Followers from 452 to 1,500.
- Increase Pinterest Followers from 423 to 1,500.
- Increase monthly pageviews from 1,800 to 3,000+.
- Schedule regular posting on Social Media channels.
We’re so excited to delve deeper into the blogging world and see what it has to offer for us. If you haven’t yet started your blog, I strongly recommend that you do. Regardless of the income potential it has, blogging simply can change your life. I mean it!
I renovated my step-by-step guide to starting your blog with more details and screen snapshots to make it as easy as possible for you to follow. You don’t have to have any technical knowledge to get started. Its way easier than you may think it is.
